Albert Pike

Perhaps no other masonic author has been as frequently misquoted as Albert Pike. While his book Morals and Dogma of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry is not an easy work to read, this is no excuse for ignoring the purpose and intention of the author. The Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite uses the word Dogma in the sense of teaching rather than statements of belief required of all members. Every member is entirely free to reject and dissent from any of these dogma or teaching which may seem to him to be untrue or unsound.

In this book Albert Pike presents various ancient theosophic and philosophic speculations because it is of interest and profit to know what the Ancient Intellect thought upon these subjects. Most freemasons do not share the opinions of the ancients philosophers. If you are looking for a book about what freemasons believe this is not it. If you are interested in reading a summary of the ancient philosophers written by one of the most energetic freemasons of the nineteenth century you will enjoy this book.
